Sometimes I wonder why I even call myself an artist or why I would try to pursue such an unstable career. Sometimes people shame me for not having a “real” or “useful” skill. Sometimes I huddle in a corner and cry.
But you know what, I love what I do. No matter if my art stays a hobby, or turns into a career, it will always be a natural and spiritual urge I need to fulfill -and I will- and that is okay.
And for any of you struggling budding artists out there, ART IS OKAY. It is one of the most pure discovery of self that I have ever encountered. Indulge yourself in your art and follow it. If there is no one in your life supporting your art right now, know THAT I DO. You’re not alone, I’ve been there. Don’t throw away such a natural and self-fulfilling process. Now go paint that painting, write that novel, or sculpt that sculpture you’ve been repressing for weeks. I want to see and know that I am not alone.
